The Famous and Sacred Tanah Lot Bali
Tanah Lot Bali – When the sun is creating a mix of orange and magneta colors in the sky, the beauty of Tanah Lot is stunning. This temple is one of the seven famous sea temples in Bali. Date in16th century, this temple was built by Dang Hyang Nirartha (priest from Java) during his trips around the southwest coast of Bali. He saw a small island near the main land in which he spend the night. The next day he asked the local fishermen to build a temple to worship sea God in the rocks because he felt the sacred atmosphere in the rocky island.
Tanah Lot is land in the middle of the sea, is part of the regency of Tabanan in the western part of Bali. It is only 33 km from the city of Denpasar. To go there you can take canggu route if you want to see the beautiful view of rice fields on both sides of the street. But, there is also other way, you can go there by bus in Ubung bus station to West Bali and turn left at the roundabout in Kediri.
The temple in Tanah Lot Bali is considered as one of the most sacred area in Bali. It is not accessible to every visitor but reserved only for pilgrimane. However, a great view of the temple, which is supported by the brilliance sunsets, can be seen from many points nearby. There is also a line of souvenir shops and cafes where Es Kelapa Muda (young coconut with fresh ice) and other variety of food are served. Some cafes even have a nice view of the sunset from the balcony. When the water receded, the crowd usually is focused on the beach between the rocks where the temple is developed and the slopes of the mainland.
Caves that are part of the cliff is also become another attraction famous of this sites. There is a giant snake lives in one of the caves. It is also believed that in the island’s rocky base there is poisonous sea snakes guard the temple from evil spirits and intruders. The legend said that the snake is a Nirartha scarf.
Well, sometimes when the tide rises, the main island is separated by water. The boat is the only way to reach the temple. There is always a beautiful frame there such as high tide. A small rocky island looks like a big ship with the shrine and the trees on the bottom of the sea in a vast ocean during high tide.
